If, the Merger happens, will we see Music Choice added to the Music Chanenl offerings on Dish? The quality is alot better than Muzak. At least I can hear the 80's Channel in Stereo vs. Mono with Muzak.

I like what Dish offers. I wouldn't want to give up Power Rock or Concert Classics.

We'll probably see Muzak offered on the new, merged company since E* is buying D*. But no one knows for sure.

I like music choise better, I never heard it before, but all songs are unedited, that puts them #1 with me.

Doesn't D* offer the same lineup that P* used lo these many years ago? I think they do & if so, I vote to switch. It was much better than the channels offered by E*now.

why not offer both Musak AND MC in a merged company?

I think you're right. After all, I understood they would use the D* product & brand name.

I like the piano and guitar channel that is on Muzak. Sunday morning and reading the newspaper. Nothing better. :D

MC has a channel called "Atmospheres" - channel 838. It is very much like piano and guitar channel on Muzak. My favorites on MC, though are Light Jazz (839) and Progressive Rock (818). When the family is gone, I crank the stereo and really enjoy listening to them.

Primestar had DMX. I do not know if they had Music Choice later on.

Primestar had the 30 channel DMX suite, never had MC. I think Muzak will be the provider if the merger happens, the company is going to still be Echostar it's just the service is going to be called DirecTV.

If its Musak they BETTER put that one tier of audio in stereo and not MONO!

The mono channels were never intended for residential subs, so it is very unlikely they be converted to stereo. And for whatthey were intended to be used for it good that their mono. Dont shoot me please :)

My guess is they will stay with Muzak because I'm sure Muzak has a hard contract with E* since Muzak depends on the E* birds for delivery of Muzak service to all commercial accounts. I don't think they would have shifted all services from their old delivery system to E* without some assurances.

Kck, you just brought up an interestring point, what about the commerical Music Choice subs that are using D* to recieve them.

Both will stay on the birds due to contracts, MC will be the only one available to us. That's my guess, my hope and my dream

This is acutally NOT true. Right after DirecTV bought Primestar, they switched out DMX for MC, so they got the same 30 channels that were on D*. Of course, since P* went dark after D* switched everyone over, maybe that's why nobody noticed...

I didn't think I was crazy (yet). I remembered having Atmospheres w/ P*. It and Hot Hits were my favorites. I knew there had been a change in music providers but couldn't recall the timing. Thanks.

Kind of what I am thinking too. During the phase-in period to one platform, we might see DishCD&Audio for current subs with current E* equipment, pointed to 119, MC for current D* subs with current D* equipment pointed to 101 and both service for subs that have duel-speak or both E* and D* IRD's with dish(es) pointed at both 101 and 119. It also will depend on how the contracts work out with both Muzak and MC.

Its a wonder they dont have any out there available where you have commercials, and on top of that maybe Dish could sell ad spots to add revenues or advertise their own ads, now or when it becomes DirecTv. Maybe that would help keep prices down as well. I would like to see a countdown music channel playing the current top hits. I know mtv and vh1 and muchmusic has that on their video music channels. These music channels are probably very very cheap and dont take up very much space at all on the satellie and it provides a variety so I dont see why they would not offer both.

MC Channel 822 "Hit List" plays only current hits, and channel 804 "New Releases" plays new music from all genres. Both stations are good, although I don't listen to them much. There are too many other MC stations that suit my tastes.
