Called 1-888-284-7116, the "Customer Care" number for existing customers. I wish to upgrade my 811 receiver. I am presented with the following options:
"For Billing information or to make a payment Press 1"
"To Make changes to the channels you get or to buy pay per view movies or events press 2"
"For technical support or information about how to use your equipment press 3"
"If you are moving or need to activate a replacement receiver press 4"
"to repeat the list press the * key"

hmmm what to do? Tried pressing 0, and was told it was not an option. Eventually pressed 1, and it hung up on me while trying to transfer.

2 or 3 should work. you would be making changes to your channels, in a sense, and tech support will at least understand what you are wanting to do and can get you to the right people I'd think :)
