Hi,
I have decided to purchased a big screen tv,this week.
I have been looking at the Samsung DLP,they seemed that they've got a great reviews and a great picture.
I currently own an old ultravision 50" screen,I have been happy with the TV,except my tv is absolutely obsolete now,no component no HDMI, no dvi of course.
Been using S video for the past 6 yrs.

Here is what I am looking at a Samsung HLR-5667,or a HLR-5067 .
I like the 56 " it could be had for just couple hundreds more than a 50".
Does anyone have these models, what you like and don't like .
Where you bought it on line,
I never bought a tv on line so I am kind hesitating about that too.
I trust ONECALL.COM, but I am not sure ,what's your experience in buying a tv online?

Has anyone heard of this website.thenewconnection.com they seems they got a great prices,I check with pricescan they received a 4 at 5.
Thanks
Luciano

I have a 61" Sammy and I love it even though it's one of the earlier vintages so it's warm up time is a bit longer, it's native 720, and the blacks aren't quite as crisp as they are in the current generation. I'd buy another one in a second. I was down at my local high end A/V store a couple of weeks ago looking at the rest of the competition. Bang for the buck, the Samsung was the best bet. Not even close.

Check out the JVC HD-ILA sets. I have the HD-61Z786 and the picture is excellent. I only use the built in tuner for HD which does a great job of pulling in all my locals, but more importantly for me, SD programming from my 721 still looks great. I still can't justify subscribing to HD programming as there is nothing I would be interested in watching. I get more than enough HD for me offair.

I have a Toshiba 52" DLP and have an awesome picture. Sammy is great also, but some people have complained about video game lag on Samsung models. Check out http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/ for a load of info on all kinds of AV gear. Go to rear projection units for info on DLP modles.

How long have you owned your JVC?

I have read they have had some pretty bad problems with the "light engines". On office mate of mine has had his less than 2 years now and he has had his replaced twice.

If you go with a DLP you should seriously consider an extended warranty due to "moving parts" IMHO.

Not sure I agree with this advice. We're about 30 months into our Sammy and it gets heavy use, but has been problem free. I've always been of the opinion that if you've buying electronics from a quality manufacturer, they'll typically go south during the first 60-90 days. So far (knock on wood) I've either made good choices or been lucky as I've never had any gear in for maintenance. Of course, my wife will say that's because I can't resist the temptation to upgrade!!!!

I have a DLP InFocus projector (X-1) with a 3000 hour bulb in it. So far the 3000 hour bulb has racked up 3800 hours.
