Well AT&T claims to have patents that cover the underling technology behind MPEG4 and wants anyone who has a product (hardware or software) to buy licenses from them.:nono2:

There are several companies, of all size and shapes, who hold patent rights on various intellectual properties. It is necessary for those companies to defend those products and ideas. ATT holds patents they are defending. A court will decide if they are right.
