During a private meeting with President George W. Bush last week, Teamsters union president James P. Hoffa reiterated the union's strong opposition to the merger of EchoStar Communications Corp. and DirecTV Inc., a Teamsters spokesman confirmed, although he added, "They didn't get into a deep discussion."

What it means is ... that Mr.Hoffa (or whoever else from the union that formulated the policy) doesn't know diddly about DBS television in general, or about 'E' and 'D' in particular.

The merger would not adversely affect "blue-collar workers" from either company - separately or together. Hopefully, it might adversely affect blue-collar workers in the cableTV industry ... maybe that's what the union is opposed to?
