Does anyone know the best way to get a R-10 DVR? I really don't want to activate it now. I just want to have it handy in case my modified HDVR2 (expanded to 243 recording hours) bites the dust despite my efforts.
And, yes, I do have the thing on a APC UPS.

Mark, as i know you have read already, some local Walmarts still have inventory of R10s. Mine did up until this past week when they finally sold out. Maybe check with "VE" (valueelectronics) or "Weaknees".
Or better yet, ...........experience the pleasure of owning an R15.:sure:
Try checking some of the smaller less busy places for older units. I went for coffee last week and this small electronics store in the strip mall had a display model R-10 they were selling "open box". In fact if it is still there when I stop again I will probably buy it.

I dont know of any legal way to get a unit then not turn it on(acitvate it) within the 30 days without paying the $150 or so penalty. But you probably vould get one, activate it for a month then mothball it unitl needed
