Was thinking about exploring PPV's on DTV and maybe ordering some, but the price...$3.99. Wow!

Anybody else think this is a bit much? I mean, D can obviously charge it....but video stores/Netflix/whatever is much cheaper. Does Dish cost as much? Do many people order the PPVs?

Not pricey for me, since I can order from the comfort of my home. To use Netflix I would have to go and get at PO. I do find the PPV selection in HD lacks variety and they don't show them on weekends. I am glad I have HD Tivo!

I don't find them particularly expensive. I don't watch enough movies to justify NetFlix, so dropping $4 every once in a while isn't a big deal.

They are still cheaper then renting a DVD from Blockbuster...

No more expensive than cable. That's how much my former provider charges per movie.

What about the adult PPV's ? The prices are outrageous and you can buy a DVD for the price of a 90 minute adult PPV.

It depends on your viewing habits. If you only watch 1 or 2 movies a month then PPV is more economical than Netflix. But I have never seen PPV cheaper than $3.99 anywhere (with the exception of occasional specials). The bigger ripoff is paying $12/month for a movie package like Starz where they show the same movies 20 times a day.

Starz and HBO and the like do not show the same movie 20 times a day. Yes there is repetition but that is a gross exaggeration. They are a good value for some and a waste for others,

The "block" and the "PPV PBTV" are expensive...

As for "buying" one for the same price.... have you priced any of the "good" ones lately... They are not "that" cheap... some are... but if you probably compare title to title.... PPV is probably still cheaper...

But then again.... I wouldn't know anything about that....

That reminds me... Today is Valentines Day... nothing says I love you more then a little PPV... :D

Same price on E*, except the "Last Chance Channel" where they feature less popular movies toward the end of their run for $1.99.

I haven't ordered a ppv since D* dropped the coupons. I rent my movies from a local video store for $1.00 each and if you rent three the fourth is free, that includes new release movies. can't beat that with a stick.

I have purchased 1 PPV in my life. Apt Pupil back when I had Dish. Time Warner charges $3.95/movie for their HD On Demand titles. I have no idea what standard def movies cost. I may order a few high def movies oneof these days.
