You would think that channel of all the PPV channels would have the top movies.
Agreed! The selection is poor and is not shown on weekends. The price is reasonable since a DVD is at most played at 480p while the PPV is at 1080i.

I simpy think it is a "bandwith" deal....
Hopefully with more DVRs in the market, and the option to pre-record before you pay (with the R15, and hopefully the HR20)...
They can get rid of 6 channels for one movie (to start it ever half an hour)
And thus start to add some more PPV options, both HD and SD
Hopefully with the MPEG-4 then could sneak a few more HD-PPV channels in there as well.

Doesn't PPV bandwidth take a hit during football season?
But it isn't football season and they don't show it on weekends.

Yes, during the football season... it takes a big hit, to provide the HD feeds
But I think it also takes hits during the MLB season as well (because of the MLB package)

The majority of the MLB Package is just the RSN's and the alternates mapped twice to one of the Extra Innings channels. Pretty much all of the bandwith for the RSN Alternate's are already set aside so it doesn't cause that much of a hit. The HD PPV bandwith likely goes to Spice HD which is only active on weekends, and some HD Feeds for some RSNs.

Perhaps HD PPVs will be part of the 150 national HD channels D* will offer by the end of next year. That could soak up a good 50-60 channels...
