BellSouth said it signed a five-year exclusive marketing
alliance with DirecTV in which the telco will continue to
offer its customers the satellite TV service.
The agreement also creates a new sales channel for BellSouth
FastAccess DSL services, the company said.
Through terms of the agreement, BellSouth is responsible for
the sales and ordering functions, and DirecTV is responsible
for the installation and ongoing service for BellSouth
customers who subscribe through BellSouth.
"This new agreement builds on our very successful relationship
with DirecTV," said David Scobey, president of BellSouth
Retail Markets. "BellSouth and DirecTV have worked diligently
to provide customers with unsurpassed value, quality and the
highest level of customer support."
More than 523,000 customers have added DirecTV service to
their BellSouth Answers bundle since 2004, Scobey said.
