I just leased a 622 and I thinking of adding a 508 to the account. Is there a problem with Dish changing out older units because of the deployment of 8PSK? How long can I use this unit before they pull the plug? Or can the 508 handle 8PSK?

The 508 is not an HD reciever, it is part of the 50x series of DVR's. You can add the reciever without issue to your package, and until Dish converts its main programing to MPEG 4, you wont have any issues. The 8PSK deals with the HDTV side, although I do believe all recievers have taken upgrades for 8PSK Turbo...

No worries, call Echostar and you will be good to go...

8PSK is only being used for HDTV transmissions but has been added to newer SD receivers. The 501/508/510 does not have it. It has been mentioned as possibility that Dish could switch the satellite feeds from QPSK to 8PSK but that could be a few years off. In the meantime enjoy one of Dish's most stable receivers and it doesn't hurt that it also is DVR fee free.
