Starz and DirecTV will offer an exclusive free preview of the premium networks to customers of the satellite TV service this weekend, beginning at 6 a.m. Eastern today. The free preview will highlight 12 channels in the Starz Super Pack including two channels of Starz, Starz InBlack, Starz Edge, two channels of Encore, Encore Love, Encore Westerns, Encore Mystery, Encore Wam, Encore Drama and Encore Action.

My R15 isn't letting me set anything on these channels to record, most likely because they aren't in the "channels I get" list. Is there a way to reset that list so that I can record some movies this weekend?

Unfortunately, I don't think so. The R15 has a separate authorization for viewing a channel than for recording it. If DirecTV does not send the recording authorization in the data stream, you will only be able to watch.

I had that problem on the R10 and had to go into the settings and add it to the "channels I receive" in the settings.

Now I'm in bidness. That's probably of little help since I have a completely different product.

I wonder if anyone has attempted to record any of these "freeview" channels by doing a "manual record" instead of the usual "press R. To explain better, go into> menu> settings> scheduler> manual>......and set it from there. It will definitely show in the "To Do List" but just wonder if it will record. :confused:

I've set one for Saturday morning on Starz Channel #521, just to see if it will in fact record.
