From HDTV Magazine today:
The WB will begin broadcasting a portion of their primte time lineup in HDTV this fall! Reader and WB executive, Hal Protter, said that at one time The WB was thinking of using the 720p format. In a fax to his affiliates he said that The WB still believes that a station wanting to broadcast two HDTV programs on a single DTV channel could transmit both programs at 720p. Since standards converters can cost as little as $15,000, or even less these days, two 1080i signals sent from the network could be then converted to 720p HD and distributed at a 9 Mbps, allowing for two HD programs in one DTV channel.

The programs currently planned for fall distribution in HDTV are 'Smallville', 'Everwood, Reba', & 'Family Affair' in HDTV . Both Smallville and Everwood repeat on Sundays. In total the WB will have five hours of HDTV programming per week. Way to go The WB!!
