View Full Version : RG6 questions
i have directTV, 2 dvrs, getting a 3rd, will eventuall get hdtv. we're doing some remodeling and i want to do some of my own wiring, to make things tidy and tolerable to look at.
i'm going to buy paried/dual rg6 wire, "swept" to 3 ghz..
a few questions:
1) do i need to get the RG6 w/ the ground in it? my current wires don't have them (actually, one dual rg6 had it in, but installer took it out).
2) where can i buy dual flooded/direct burial that's 3 ghz, and WHITE? i've looked everywhere. i found it in black, but not WHITE.
thanks everyone.
I would try a Graybar Electric office, if you have one. Or try any of your local electrical supply houses.

Check eBay - lots of people sell cables there.

Don't pay extra for a ground lead and if it comes with, don't use it. You don't want to draw static or lightning down your cable run.2) where can i buy dual flooded/direct burial that's 3 ghz, and WHITE? i've looked everywhere. i found it in black, but not WHITE.Very few dual/siamese cables are 3MHz rated. CommScope model 5782 is an example of a non-burial cable. Due to issues with ultraviolet, they don't make white outdoor cable, much less DB.

If the cable is being trenched, does it realt matter if it is black or white?

it still must go along a wall, from dish to ground.

i learned this the hard way, from the ripoffs at summitsource.com.
their product descripotion for some commscope dual flooded wire was 3 ghz. when it arrived, wire sed only 2.2 ghz. :nono2:
summitsourece.com has since changed the product description on their web site.
but they have ignored my requests to take their product back (it costs like $40 to ship ground commercial). i've given up trying to contact them.
be warned everyone.
