I got my 622 ready to install and the installer is coming this Saturday the 25th and I called Dish a minute ago to see if they could give me the installers phone number so I can verify he's bringin the right stuff. The tech could not give me the info but said they would probably bring a second dish to point at 61.5 or 129. I was hoping for a 1000 but I guess not. He said the installer has the work order and should bring what is needed for the HD install. Do most installers know about the 622 and dual tuner receiver so that I can be at ease knowing they will bring the right stuff? Do they normally use dpp44's on 2nd dish installs so they only need one cable to the 622 or will they have to run a 2nd cable? Someone just calm me down from this anxiety!!!!

The installers phoned me before they arrived. They wanted to know what I had and determined what I needed. They then brought the stuff with them. They did pretty good this time. Hopefully, they will call to confirm before they come to your home.

I was hoping for a 1000

Yeah, I am definitely not wanting a second dish on the roof (they put the 1st one right on the ledge where it is very visible from the patio)... I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for the 1000. The tech told me that's what I'd get when I ordered on 2/1.

I wonder how the installers know whether to point a 2nd dish at 61.5 or 129. Do they know where the HD locals are going to be broadcast from? I can see them pointing a dish at 61.5 and then having to come out later because the HD locals are actually at 129.

My installer brought the wrong dish, but quickly called another tech in the area to bring the 1000 over. I find it pretty funny that the 622 software doesn't have a 1000 listed under it's dish preferences. Only the 500.

What if the installer put in a dish for 61.5 and had to run another coax into my living room, how long would it take for him to get up in the attic and run the cable down the wall?

You will only need 1 coax to the 622 unless you are going to run the tv2 out. They have a splitter that connects to the 622 and brances 1 signal into 2.

But dont they need a dpp switch? what if they only have a dp34 or such?

No. I purchased the 622 and 411. I can have 1 more receiver before needing a DPP34. I would have to do the math on needing the DPP44. The Dish 1000 has 3 lnb's, one of which is a dual, so 4 all together.

um, Virus, I'm don't think we know yet if DC needs the 1000 yet, but I know we still need 61.5 to get all locals (though the 61.5 ones are the small ones or foreign language ones) and 61.5 would be much stronger than 129

You can only supply 2 receivers from a Dish1000 before you need to get a switch. The way a Dish1000 works is, you have a DishProPlus (DPP) Twin LNB that has 2 outputs and 1 input. You also have a DishPro (DP) Dual LNB which has 2 outputs, one of which you don't use. You take one output of the DP Dual LNB (129) and run it into the input on the DPP Twin LNB (110/119). The DPP "switch" built into the DPP Twin LNB combines all the signals and sends the data from all 3 orbital locations out both outputs. If you were to try and take the other output from the DP Dual LNB and just run it to a receiver that receiver would only see the 129 channels.

If you need to have more than 2 receivers you need to get a DishProPlus 44 switch (it's not a DPP34, it's DPP44, which means it can support up to 4 satellite locations and 4 outputs). At this point you disconnect the cable between the DPP Twin and DP Dual and run. Then you run the 2 outputs from the DPP Twin to the DPP44 switch and you run one cable from the DP Dual to the the DPP44 switch. When you connect the DPP Twin LNB to a DPP44 switch it disables the switching in the LNB and tells the LNB to send the 110 data on one cable and the 119 data on the other. You get the 129 data from the DP Dual LNB.

At this point the DPP44 takes care of combining everything and it has outputs for up to 4 receivers, or can be cascaded to support more than 4.

I know, I have that configuration, and it works. But, the DPP44 is better for dual-tuner receivers, since you only need to run one cable from the dish to the receiver.
