Dish Network is now accepting subscriptions for Discovery HD. You must have a Dish 6000 in order to subscribe. If you subscribe to Discovery HD for an entire year they will give you the
"Enhanced HD Adapter" 8PSK module for FREE.

You need to call a special number to order Discovery HD that number is 888-220-3474

Once you get your adapter here are the instructions on how to install it.

People who own a Dish 5000 receiver will need to upgrade to a 6000 in order to receive Discovery HD. Dish Network is offering a special upgrade rate of $299 to 5000 owners!

Just got off the phone with DISH. The rep went to his manager and they told him this promotion doesnt start until July 8th DESPITE the web site saying the 1st.

Ok, I tried AGAIN! After I mentioned the Discovery promotion, the new gal I got (who was extra extra nice since she was new) figured it out and ordered the Discovery and the module - BUT she got confused on the 5000-6000 upgrade. She was constantly going back to her "coach". After many many minutes she found out again, they cant do it until the 8th. She said they dont have the "details" worked up on it yet.

Ok.... Ill try AGAIN on the 8th ;)

Scott, any intelligence on what these "additional details" entails? Dish said they dont sell the 6000 directly, so would they have to set something up with the dealers? Dealers do you know anything?

I just subcribed for a year today. I didn't want them to start my subscription until I got the Enhanced HD Adapter" 8PSK module. The web site says it may take up to 4 weeks to get it. The customer service guy said that they give you 13 months when you order the 12 months subscription. They are about 4 or 5 days behind in sending out the modules. If you add 3 or 4 days for UPS ground to deliver, I will get 12 and 1/2 months of Discovery HD.

I got my module today, it was a snap to install and now I have Discovery HD. Very cool! (Now add some more HD content to make this module worth while) :)
