View Full Version : Pocket Dish Opinions

I'm thinking of buying a PocketDish for the wife's birthday, she travels a LOT and I think she'd love to be able to take Iron Chef, 24, and some old movies with her but I have some reservations that I hope PocketDish owners might be able to help me with:
1) Is the UI really easy and straightforward? She's not completely challenged but prefers this kind of stuff quick and neat (loves her IPod, hates my Zen Touch).
2) How long does the battery last and can you take an extra with you?
3) Is the viewing angle fairly wide so that she would not have to hold it up or worry about positioning while seated in an airplane??
If I get her one it will probably be the 7" screen.
Thanks for your feedback.

Santa got my wife one of these for Christmas. She loves it.
1. Took my wife 10 minutes to figure out.
2. Battery lasts 4 hours for video. Extra batteries can be purchased.
3. Viewing angle is surprisingly wide.
I would definately recommend. :)

I own the 5 inch model. Nice screen. Very easy to use, although moving video takes some time.

bobukcat, did you get one yet?
For the owners out there, I read that HD gets scaled down to SD when viewed, ala TV2 output. Does that mean it will be in SD when transferred as well? It would suck to put only 4 hours of HD shows on the high end one if that is the case.
EDIT: Sorry, got my answer elsewhere... apparently you can't even transfer HD content. This sucks considering you actually have to plan on recording something in SD for transfer purposes. Say I recorded HD 24, then did not have time to watch it Monday night. It would be ideal to transfer it while taking a shower Tuesday morning, and then watching it on the commute to work, but no go. :(
