I live in Farmington and recently had a HD upgrade with the dish 1000 and the 411. The installer only had the 129 signal strength at 55, so I called dish and they sent another guy out and he reaimed the dish got the signal to around 70 and I am still getting dropouts on the channels on the 129 satt. I have read that the 129 satt is putting out a low signal. Can't dish increase the the signal strength on that bird. I have another dish tech coming out in a week and I am going to nail him down to try and get the signal to at least 90.
Is there a trick in getting a balanced high signal strength on all three birds.
What are other New Mexico customers signal strength on 129.

I purchased the PPV fight Saturday night and on the mpeg 4 129 channel I was getting pixelation and freezes every couple of minutes or so. This was very distracting. The guide showed that the fight was on another channel(mpeg2) and the fight was fine.

I don't have 129 but I have 61.5 and it comes in load and clear. If they can't get 129 peaked and holding steady you might ask about switching over to 61.5 instead. i believe its a complete mirror for 129.

Except that the Albuquerque HD locals are uplinked to 129° which is where they will likely stay when they become available. If they move to E*10 at 110° then you would lose nothing by pointing to 61.5° instead.

Well sounds like I'm going to need a Dish 1000 in the near future!

Similar issue here, low power on 129, (not all transponders, which confuses me).

Now oddly, my brother's set up in Placitas has 90 for 129 and his other two sats are lower than mine.

Sounds like he optimized 129. This may have dropped 110 the most as usually they center the D1000 on 119 and take what they get on the others. I have no experience and I'm using 61.5, so FWIW, I would align on 119 and starting with the nominal skew, adjust it slightly for near equal 110 and 129. Actually, I might then fudge the 119 a little to improve both 110 and 129 sum but keeping 119 not worse than the average.

Yes, decision time is coming for locals in MPEG-4 and the others, buying a 622.

Evidently getting all three sats is a bit tricky. My installer had to put up another base because my old dish500 base wasn't precisely plum and would have caused alignment problems. If the installer is not very particular it may cause problems. Being just a tiny bit off can make a BIG difference.
