211 now, and 622 later

I currently have an 811. I want to upgrade to the 211 very soon here. I am waiting to see the Minneapolis locals go up then I will probably order. The question I have is does anyone have any ideas if Dish is going to keep the 622 on the lease deal for $299?

I know before the end of the year I will proably have the ching to blow on the 622, but can't do it right now. I just don't want to get stuck like it was before with the 942 not even being offered for lease people.

Also just a hope and you can all shoot down this idea if you want. The April $200 rebate is for 921/942 users right now. I assume this is NOT being offered currently because of 622 inventory. Once 622 inventory goes up, you think they will offer a better deal for upgraders?

no one would know this. common sense, none of us are execs in Dish, hence we would have no way of knowing their long term plans :) That being understood, it seems that Dish is favoring a lease business model, while not going forcibly to it as yet. D* is going all lease, with limited owning routes. So I'd say the likelyhood of leased 622's in a year is exceptionally good

see above. 942 wasn't likely offered for lease very long because it was known before the 942 was even offered that it would have to be replaced within a year or so. Which made it not a good idea to put a bunch of leases on it come Oct/Nov/Dec with the 622 due in Feb.

while the delay of 4/1 might be related to inventory, the rebate has nothing to do with anything other than trying to appease the 921/942 owners who paid a lot of money for obsolete gear that wasn't suppose to be obsolete this soon. Logically, there wasn't suppose to be a 942, the 921 was suppose to take care of things for HD until the mpeg4 receiver was ready. The 942 was almost suredly rushed out the door because of the mass of problems the 921 was having and it's utter failure as a top of the line unit. Many have noted the almost identical design of the 622 and 942, which makes sense if the 942 was really intended to be the 622 but dropped the mpeg4 requirement so it could replace the 921 quickly.

so no, don't expect anything better than $299 for a while. Maybe $249 or $199 if you upgrade from a 211 and already have the D1000 and switches, this would make sense. But considering how much Dish likely is offering the lease price under cost of making the 622, don't expect a huge discount for a normal lease deal. The rebate is also to get entice us 921 owners to consider leasing and get these damned 921's out of service fast :) haha
