View Full Version : What will Directv do if MLB strike occurs?
I emailed Directv and this is their response
Dear (Rob),
Thank you for your inquiry. We do not have any information at this time;
however, if and when the MLB does strike, you may contact us in regards
to what we will be doing for our Major League Extra Innings customers.

Looks like they will do something, but they aren't going to tell you unless you ask after the strike starts.
I heard the players weren't going to strike until near their last paycheck so I assume you'll get little or nothing back assuming they go on strike in Sept.
A strike date is suppose to be talked about on Monday on July 8th. DirecTV probably doesn't know what they are going to do until there is a strike. If there is going to be one and what date it finally does happen. If the players go on strike at a certain date and it happens then DirecTV will announce something. DirecTV would be foolish to announce something now as that will confuse the masses of people out there and the customer service dept doesn't want to get hit with a bunch of phone calls on what if's. :)
Really, I heard it was Aug 16.
Yep. I hear they want their paychecks and don't want to refund a bunch of money back to TV.

The reason there's a lot of speculation about a mid-September date is that the owners got their TV money up front this year. So striking in August would cost the players their paychecks, but the owners wouldn't lose any TV money. The players' next-to-last payday is September 15.
There has been some progress in the non-financial areas of the contract negotiation.
Don Fehr is denying that the July 8 meeting is to set a strike date. He says it's merely the only time they can assemble all the player representatives in person.
