I currently have a 522 and 721, both of which I own. I am ready to upgrade to the 622. I'll need a Dish 1000 installed, too.
So I am getting ready to call Dish to place my order. Any helpful hints or suggestions before I do? Like should I select Tech Support for HD to place my order (it sounds like they know what they're doing for the most part) or go the normal route?
Thanks much!
I don't know that it matters much. Just call and make sure the CSR understands what you need. You pretty much don't need the HD until the 622 is activated so make sure they understand that. You can ask whether the 622 will be shipped directly to you, whether they know or not is a different subject. They will likely want to know which of your other units you are planning to disable. I would guess you are at least 4 weeks from an install date but that depends a bit on where you live. If you wait until after April 1 your wait time will likely be longer as there will be a pretty good group that is doing the $200 upgrade rebate from 921s and 942s and most of them will call on April 1. You might want to read through some of the other 622 threads especially regarding the Dish 1000. Some areas seem to have marginal performance with the Dish 1000 on the 129 bird. You might want to list your location in your profile.

Well, the 622 is on order and he seemed to have all my information correct. However, when I asked him (or reminded him, depending on your perspective) that I would need my dish upgraded to a 1000 model, he stumbled a bit. I think he tried to put that information in the system, but apparently it would not let him put two work orders in at the same time. He told me to call back in a couple of days to see if I can make a change then. I really hate that line, because what it really means is "I'm tired of this call, make it someone else's problem."
Install date: Apr 6

I suggest you call them back right now and get it straightened out. From previous posts, if they close a ticket in order to revise, your install date drops back. If you wait until April 1 to revise it, you will be at the back of a very long line of 942/921 users who will be upgrading. For whatever reason, they seem to have to cancel an order to alter it (and if you don't alter it, you won't get a Dish 1000). My advise is to call back now and get it fixed before the install date goes further back...
Good luck!

True and when i worked for Dish this was a no no and will get you fired. We were told to satify the customer in one phone call.
Presence, what dishes do you have on your roof now and what is your location. You may be just as well off with them adding a single dish aimed at 129 depending on whether you want an additional dish on the roof.
April 6 is not a bad date. The installers will need to make it work. They have to complete the install to close it unless you close it. If you insist on a Dish 1000 when they are there and they do not have that in stock, then you will get rescheduled. You may just want to keep your options open. I have found that they are pretty accomodating especially when you are not antagonistic.

Call back, press the buttons for existing customer, HD tech support. They've been the biggest help for me.

Third call was a charm. I got another American (when are the Indians online, anyway?), very nice girl who tells me she actually is part of the training team for CSRs. I took that with a grain of salt until she rocked the rest of my order. Same install date, Dish 622 and Dish 1000 all on the work order. (Allegedly <cough>)

Congrats, and good luck....
I'm still waiting for my empty box! (but loving the 622...)
