Recently I have been having problems trying to set up either VCR timers or changing station timers. I normally scroll out to the show I want to either watch in the future or record (on the EPG), then hit the enter button, and the timer screen pops up. Recently, when I hit the enter button, the screen leaves the EPG and goes back to the original station I was watching before hitting the Guide button. This is very frustrating when I've scrolled out 12 hours or so (the guide download takes forever these days on the latest software upgrade), waited the 2 minutes or so for the show I want, hit enter, and it goes right back to the show I was watching. After 3 or 4 attempts, I then have to go in and set a manual timer. After an hour or so of watching the satellite, it will allow me to enter a future show from the guide, and the timer screen pops up. What gives?

Sounds like you need to do a reset of the receiver - pull the Smartcard out or unplug it from the wall.

Yes, I've had this happen, and in general, yanking the smart card and replacing it does the trick to get things right again. Also you might give "Check Switch" a shot.

Well, what worked for me was unplugging it for 30 seconds and then firing it up again. Pulling the smartcard didn't do it. Dish said they've never heard of this problem and to talk to Advanced Technical Support. Thanks for your help.

I had it happen quite frequently about 1 and 1/2 months ago.
Haven't had it happen lately.
I usually pulled the smart card and then unplugged the receiver for a minute or so.
It is exactly things like that , that I dislike most about DISH.
DAMN , I wish they'd fix their epg.

I talked to a Tech. Rep @ Dish this a.m. and he suggested I go back to the factory defaults. It's been working fine ever since. I then changed the options I wanted back to the way I like them, and it still works fine. Go figure...
