I think I've read on several posts where folks are using a tivo with E* service... is this right? If so, how are these installed?

They are using standalone Tivo's and just run the output of their E* receivers into the inputs on the Tivo....its not near as good a recording as using a regular E* PVR....

a have two TiVos hooked up to an 811 and a Vip211, and the quality is excellent if set up right. Just follow the direction in the TiVo manual.

tivo will only record at close to dish pvr quality if you use best for all recordings (at least based on the couple tivo's i've used). The dish boxes store the signal that came in exactly, no compression, so playback is completely indiscernable from the broadcast.

other than adjusting to the different menus and ways it operates, it might be worth at least trying a dish pvr (and cheaper per month unless you did the one time fee to tivo).

Yep... sorry about that. Posted in the HD forum before I realized my mistake. Didn't know how to remove or delete, so I posted again in the general forum.
