Sure! You'd get channels 100, 200, 201, 500 and so on... all the D* preview channels would come in. None of the channels you'd WANT to get would come in, however.

What are you actually asking about? Whether the receiver would continue to get programming? As Newshawk said, only the preview type channels. Although, one without the card may just give a "Please insert card" message.

Are you asking about whether you had previously owned a receiver (card or no card), would it be considered owned if you reactivated it now?

No rcvr would work without a card! When you cancel service, they will program the card to only rcv the chnls listed above! When you subscribe to service they will program the card to authorize the channels you subscribe!

I have found out, if you call directv to de-activate a receiver, disconnect the receiver from the satellite jack before you call. Give them the info, and then after your done talking to them wait a little bit (20 min.) then recconect the cable. You will still get programmimg for a little while.

Ha that last comment was what I was looking for. Am wondering then though ff there was someway you could keep the card hmm and just give back the receiver. Or as you stated might be worth just buying the thing out right if that really works. Def keep that in mind thanks.

The card and receiver are mated so 1 without the other won't work. Even if you miss the deactivation signal by disconnecting the receiver the card will deactivate within a month. There is no way you can watch for free.
