I noticed on my program guide last night that my locals were on a temp. channel. I wonder what this means? Anybody have a clue? Out of Indianapolis.

Norton,

Dish is preparing to move many many local markets to the new Spotbeam satellite (Echostar X) that will be going into service in mid April. This will free up bandwidth as well as satisfy a FCC ruling that ALL local market channels be available from a ONE Dish Solution, as of right now some local markets have some stations on 148 and or 61.5 this requires a second Dish in addition to your regular Dish 500 or SuperDish this is ONE BIG FAT NO NO.

The move of almost all of the local market channels to the new Spot Beam satellite will free up more bandwidth for more local markets as well as more Local Markets in HD, and more National HD channels (as they come online).

Since most Local into local markets are moving to 110, Dish will be uplinking your local market twice until the transition is complete that is why your locals are being listed on a Temporary Channel as well as the current channel assignment.
