I'm waiting on delivery of a Sony kd30 xs 955 HD TV. After shelling out 1000 bucks for the set, I can't afford the 299 upgrade on my current dish dvr receiver to a HD receiver. Could anyone with a HD tv comment on how Dish SD signals look on their sets? I would greatly appreciate it
Thanks

Most sd is good on my Toshiba 32" HD, there are a few that are a little weak, also about half of my locals "Reno,Nv" are not so good. Some sd are near HD quality if compared to HD lite on the Voom channels,

I think that size is the biggest determining factor. Take a high end 32 inch hd tv and a cheap 32 inch hd tv and the picture wont be that far off. Once you get up into the 40-46 in. plus range, you start too see a sd picture quality drop off across the board.

I have a 60" Sony Wega LCD rear-proj and the PQ from SD channels coming from my 522 receiver are horrible. I also have a 811 HD receiver and the PQ from SD channels from that receiver are much better. That is because of it using the DVI input. Where as the 522 has only coax, s-video or rca. I can get decent PQ from 522 to the 60" TV by going through the Video input on the 811. That way I can watch SD shows from my 522 DVR on my 60" with realatively good PQ.

I have that model Sony TV and the Dish PQ from my 301 rcvr is not bad once you get the TV settings adjusted. Not saying it's great, even OTA analog looks better, but not bad.
