I have a 921 that I'm going to turn in to upgrade to the ViP622. Will they need to install a new dish? I have a Dish 500 for 110 & 119. Then I had them install another dish (same size as the 500) so that I could get 61.5 for CBS-HD and a local station here in Chicago. When I bought the 921 and had them install it (I altready had a 501 unit) they marked on the worksheet that they "hooked up the 921 and put on a new LNB & separators". They have one line going to my 921. They have a "splitter" type device on the back of my 921 going into the two tuners.
Another strange thing that I have always had happening with the 921 is:
If I am recording something and then try to tune in a HD channel (like Zoom or CBS-HD...not OTA HD) they will all be all pixilated - scrambled. I guess it loses the lock.
If I am watching a HD channel (Zoom channels) and a timer fires for a SD channel to record...everything will be fine until I change off the HD channel and then go back to the HD channel...it will be pixilated.
If I go to "Point Dish" (as long as I'm not recording) it will lock in the signal and everything is fine. But if you are recording, you can forget it.
I guess that's why I'm cocerned when I upgrade...was this thing ever installed right? When I call for the upgrade what should I tell them I have, or need etc.
Thanks for any help.
