Can some one clarify for me, please.

Are ALL HD locals "only" going to available in MPG 4 format?

Does that mean that an 811 receiver won't be able to view Locals in HD, only in SD?

Will HD Locals include all the other channels (info), like (xx-01, xx-02) that a given station may be transmitting?

The 811 will not be able to receive SAT HD locals. You could potentially get OTA HD locals.

No. They will not be broadcasting the subchannels.

At least at this time. Who knows what the future holds. But I'm not holding my breath.

If you can get them OTA forget the LIL's. OTA has little if any compression compaired with the LIL's.

Well..... eventually it is true that they will all be transmitted in MPGE4, however as long as people have 811, 921 and 924 they will continue to support CBS and all existing HD channels in MPEG2 (Voom, Discovery, ESPN, etc) I am sure they will start to face off those receiver. So they can stop MPEG2

If you get locals via OTA, then it is not an issue, they are not compressed.

Thanks for the quick response(s).

I've already given OTA a try when I purchased the 811... the short version is that OTA is not going to happen where we currently live.

So I'm stuck it looks like unless E* decides to "motivate" us 811 users to make the switch. I won't be holding my breath for that to occur.
