I wonder if StarzHD is part of the new contract.

If you do not see starhd within the next month then it is a good bet that starhd will never be on dish.
Charlie says he will not carry StarzHD until they get more HD content. Last time I checked their website I had to agree with him. Less than 50% HD at that time. I'd still like to see StarzHD on E* though, if only for their premier movies.

If Echostar used that criteria for all of their HD channels there would be no TNT HD and certainly no locals in HD. Sounds like a copout to me.

Is there any chance we can see more of the Starz channels added?

If you remember, TNTHD was added right after E* signed thier new carriage agreement. This was also right around the time the channel started.
There wasn't much HD on that channel at the time. My guess is the new agreement required that E* pick up the channel.
I was hoping lightning might strike again.

One particular Starz! channel should be coming ... and as of Saturday we are now in the 2nd quarter of 2006 so within the next three months we should see StarzHD, HGTV-HD and (yumm) Food-HD.

Could care less about the food channel in hd or sd. Never Ever watch it. I sure wish they would have picked another channel to go hd. Now HGtv will be nice in hd. I also wish they would add the Starz and Cinemax channels in Hd too.

CNN in HD would be nice
What Starz! channels does Dish not carry?? I know there are more to the package that they don't have.

Starz Comedy, Starz HD, Starz On Demand and Movie Plex are the channels from Starz Entertainment that E* doesn't have. Taking out Starz On Demand, which won’t be on satellite, and Plex, a worthless channel, Starz Comedy and Starz HD are it.

If my wife and I had an HD set (maybe for Christmas this year...) and DirecTV had FoodHD and Dish didn't we'd be with Uncle Rupert in an instant, so when it comes to pretty any HD channel, YMMV with interest in it but generally someone wants it...

What exactly is on Movie Plex?

On TWC the Movieplex channel is like old movies like Encore puts on. I wouldn't know what it is with STarz.

What do you mean by that, it's the same channel.

What exactly is on Movie Plex?
MoviePlex is part of the Encore suite and duplicates a different Encore theme channel each day but delayed about 1 hour.

Movie Plex, I saw the website years ago, and it had the same movies as the rest of the Starz & Encore channels, the new and the oldest movies, including the western movies of the ENCORE-WESTERNS were on the Movie Plex, of course I didn't see the entire schedule for the entire month, if it's still this way, I could take it a la carte anytime.

Movieplex: Wenesday is Westerns Channel...Thursday is Mystery Channel...Sunday Wam etc. Just a teaser channel.. Is used as a freebie and an enticement to those with cable to get the higher end Digital package. (or in our case when we had cable to NOT get the higher end package which really sucked on Adelphia.) Bad Picture/Sound)
We think the full Encore Package is the best on the Dish...constantly DVR-ing...looking at the garbage on the Premium Channels, glad we have the Encores! Also noticed, why get Stars? Much of it comes on the Encore spread eventually and fairly quickly.

All pay Movie channels carry old movies, when you think about it. :) :) :)
We tried Showtime/TMC last year for a few months and they had absolutely nothing. The channels were a joke. I don't think we ever found anything decent to watch on there. Starz and HBO seem to have the popular movies.

That is not always true, with Comcast here, MoviePlex is part of the Digital Plus tier that also includes the rest of the Encore suite of channels including East and West feeds. At first glance it seams like a waste, however the theme for the day is delayed about 1 hour from the East feed. Using your Westerns channel on Wednesday example, if a John Wayne movie comes on a particular Wednesdays on the East feed at 1pm and the West feed at 4pm, it will be on MoviePlex at 2pm. It is like having a 3rd time zone for a different Encore theme channel each day.

There were some blockbusters that didn't came on the Encore fairly quickly, had to wait a few months more, of course, other trashy movies from Starz made it fairly quickly to the encores.
I get StarzHD on Adelphia cable, but no TNT-HD. The hi-def channel I really
want is National Geographic HD. Adelphia had made a lot of progress with
upgrades to plant & programming until the TWC/Comcast takeover was
announced.
Since then, zip, zilch, nada -- everything's on hold.
