I was able to talk my friend from switching from DirecTV after 10 years to the new vip622, which was to be installed today. As of yesterday it had not shown up, so he phoned Dish to reschedule. They did so, moving it to 4/14. Not 5 minutes later UPS shows up with his receiver, and he immediately calls Dish back to get his old install time back. Sorry, we've given it out already, but we'll put you on standby in case anything opens up. At 5:40 p.m. yesterday, they call him to say that they indeed will be out today, 4/5, between 8:00 a.m. and noon. At 3:30 his time, still no Dish or even a phone call. So he fills my ear about "is this what I can expect moving to Dish? I never had this happen in 10 years with DirecTV!!!" Just talked to him at 5:45 p.m. and they never showed or called.
Thanks, Dish. I didn't even get the benefit of a ClubDish referral; I'm just going to take crap from him for free. Dear God, don't let this be the beginning of a horrible relationship...this guy's a pal!
Eh, maybe he's just like an old school football coach. If they screwed it up he was gonna rag ya big time.
But even if they would've done what they were supposed to do he woulda just been like BFD.. thats their job.
You think this is bad.. wait til his first reboot while watching his fav show. ;)

Try being a home theater designer/installer! Who made the mistake of recommending Dish 921s to several very upmarket clients when they came out!
I had to install power switches for the 921s on the fronts of three client's equipment racks just so they could hard reboot the units without pulling out the whole 300lb rack system! Needless to say, that was a freebie!
I am going to wait a loooong time, before I recommend a 211 or 622 to anyone!

What were you basing the recomendation on if they had just come out?

At the time it seemed to be the best thing available, and I expected what bugs it had to be fixed in a few months!:nono2:
