Thomson multimedia is preparing to ship the 2002 line of RCA Scenium HDTV Monitors, HDTV Sets, high performance audio systems and DVD players to more than 2,000 retail stores throughout the U.S. and Canada in August.

The RCA Scenium product range, a premium home theatre entertainment product offering from Thomson, includes high-definition television displays, powerful audio components and innovations such as a combination progressive scan DVD player and 30 hour hard-disc recorder for time shift recording.

RCA Scenium projection HDTV products feature a high gloss black screen area that separates the different elements of the TV design. This borderless screen creates the illusion of a floating picture that mysteriously emerges from the darkness.

Included in the debuts are three new rear projection, widescreen RCA Scenium HDTV Sets (65-inch, 61-inch, and 52-inch sizes) that feature built-in ATSC tuning and decoding capabilities, a second window to the Internet with high-speed broadband connectivity for browsing and secure digital interfaces that assure compatibility with next-generation HDTV set-top components from cable and satellite operators.

Also in the lineup are three RCA Scenium rear-projection HDTV Monitor models (in 40-inch, 52-inch, and 61-inch sizes) and one direct-view model (34-inch) that feature integrated DVD players to deliver a full package of entertainment for consumers. In addition to playing video DVDs, each of the integrated DVD monitors is also compatible with audio CDs, CD-R and mp3 encoded CDs.

James, you need a Sprotbra.

Why do hard disc recorders always say "30 hour record time"? I think this is very misleading and they should be required to state the record time in their "best" recording option.

I don't know about you guys, but when I tape something to VCR, I never use EP mode, I always use SP. Since getting a Dish 6000 & a DVD player, I have become very spoiled with PQ.

After looking at the owners manual it appears that there is only one digital component input on these sets. Is that true or am I looking at it wrong? I know that it comes with a built in DTV DBS receiver but what happens if you prefer Dish and also want to use the component inputs for progressive scan DVD?

Are those the same 65" Scenium integrated sets I have seen in my local Good Guys, all of them open box returned goods for $3,300?

Thats the good thing about Dish Network PVR's, they all have one grade of recording, and thats best, and with a lot more recording time, and no charge for the PVR service.

Does anybody see a great difference in the Tivo recording at not the best grade or little difference?
