I've got a DirecTV dish now that has 4 leads coming out of it that feed straight into two TiVos. One is an HDTivo, the other is a standard DirecTiVo. The HDTiVo run is probably ~80ft and the standard DTiVo run is ~25ft. Both systems get high 80s/low 90s signal strength.

I'd like to add another plain-old single-tuner box (to feed a Slingbox) right next to the standard DirecTiVo (at the 25ft run).

Soo, if someone can help me out with these questions, I'd greatly appreciate it...

Can I just put a 2x3 multiplexer next to the DTiVo and run two of the outputs to the DTivo and the 3rd to the standard box? I'd rather not have to crawl under the house to run another cable.
If I wanted to add another standard DTiVo, could I use a 2x4 multiplexer off of two lines?
Do they need to be powered multiplexers?

I think all 2x{whatever} multiswitches will only work with the 101 SAT. Your 3LNB dish also looks at 110 and 119. You need a 4x{whatever} to access all of the SATs and that would need to be connected to the 4 leads coming from the dish. I would recommend a powered multiswitch.

Why not simply connect the slingbox to the standard DirecTivo? Then you get both time and place shifting. I've got two slingboxes, one hooked to an R10 and the other hooked to an R15. Love it. But if you are travelling much, or far, having the dvr aspect is all but essential.

I may end up doing that. I've got a couple of other DTiVos that are sitting idle. I just thought wiring a single tuner might be easier. I did some hunting, it doesn't appear that anyone actually makes a 4x6 multiplexer. Is there any reason why? There's no concerns with getting a 4x8 and leaving 2 outputs empty is there?

I'm running a Terk 5x8 with two open outputs with no problems.
