I live in an apartment and I just received my 622 yesterday. I called to verify my installation date and the company said that because I live in an apartment and I have the flat cables coming through a window into my apartment (complex won't allow drilling through the walls) the company dished subbed out WILL NOT do the install on the dish 1000.
I called DISH and talked to a supervisor and she said it's a liability thing. I told her that the cables were already run, the 622 was activated and running...all they had to do was throw the dish up and aim it. No...they won't do it. I asked if I could at least get a dish 1000 from someone to save me $99.00 on the install. No they won't do it.
So now because I live in an apartment and I can't have holes drilled through my walls, I can't get the same deal everyone else in the country gets and I have to pay for it myself.
Just venting....I feel screwed.

Here's the problem you're going to run into.
Right now the Dish 1000 is kicking out a low signal on the 129 bird, which is where the HD is. If you use flat cables your signal will drop even more and you will have problems locking the HD.
It sucks, I know, but trust me you're saving yourself allot of frustration by not hooking it up.
Why can't you just install a dish 300 and aim it at 129? You will get a stronger signal than you will from the 1000. Why pay the high price for a Dish 1000 when a Dish 300 or 500 is typically available for $50 or less. Especially since you already have the 622 activated.

I'm sure the apartment complex doesn't want more than one dish hanging off the balcony. Plus that's really only going to save me $50.00. I still have to pay a local company to install a dish.
