Question for D* subs with E* for supers (or supers + nets) only -- will the price increase cause you to drop E*? Or will you change any of your subscription options to make up the difference? Or just accept the increase?

I posted this over at the "other place" and I'm too lazy to edit :) :

I pay $13.65 a month for SS + NBC NY/LA feeds. (Yes, I'm a DirecTV sub for everything else and no, I'm not giving up my DirecTiVos...)

I really only use this package for UPN (none available locally OTA or cable) and NBC that isn't always reliable OTA.

Dish's WB offerings were always nice for time-shifting but now, with TiVo and ReplayTV, who needs time-shifting? Plus, my WB OTA is pretty good.

With this price increase I'm gonna have to take a hard look at UPN's fall schedule plus experiment with re-orienting my rooftop antenna for NBC.

I'm not dropping anything for now.

I think the Superstations are the best channels on Dish, I would have them before anything else, so I would not drop them for nothing.

I have supers and my locals. The price is exactly waht it has been.

I'm dropping Dish in favor of Direct, but not specifically because of the Superstation price increase. In fact, if anything, the Superstations were the one factor that kept me with Dish all these years.

I am switching to Direct because of the cost of adding a 721 versus buying a Direct Tivo as a new Direct customer.

Im keeping the supers, because they are Super. :)

I am thinking of downgrading from my America's Everything pack, as I never watch anything on the movie channels although I may keep HBO, and I am keeping that just for HBO HD.

BTW Welcome Spud!

I will keep my Supers, they are now the main reason I stay loyal to E*.

I might drop them next year since the Rockies are going to KTVD. That leaves just the Mets on supers. I think the Red Sox deal with WFXT is up, so maybe WSBK can get them again???

Well, since I started this I realized there's a bunch of preseason NFL on the supers (Jets on WWOR, Rams on KTLA) so I won't be dropping right away.

The Rams on KTLA? Rally.

Ditto on the Supers also, its probably the only reason why I haven't switched every reciever in my house over to Directivo's

The supers were the main reason I got dish 4 years ago, I dropped direct 2 months ago even though I had the nets grandfathered in. What I cannot get on my locals ( which direct does not carry yet) I can record on my 501. Btw can you record anything on your tivo in dolby 5.1?

I think they are talking about last year's increases, the thread is over a year old.

Yes, and it can record 2 shows at the same time. Can your 501 do that?

I will not drop anything. I have the Everything package now. Something like $91 a month.

I updated the thread name to reflect how ancient this information is. :D

People should not be allowed to reopen old threads. It is a waste of time trying to figure them out until you notice the old dates.

I like the fact Echostar offers WPIX 11 (better than WPHL 17), and WWOR , KTLA and KWGN. I grew up with WWOR and WPIX and they are simply better stations than the Philadelphia wannabe stations like WPHL and WGTW. Regarding duplicative content: the supers schedule shows at different times than my local stations.

I get chances to watch a Raymond rerun when I wouldnt have otherwise seen from a Philadelphia affiliate. However taping a Raymond rerun from my local affiliate WPSG, isnt worth taking up space on my PVR or worth recording and playing back. The same goes for most other shows seen on supers.
