For auto-racing fans, nothing beats the roar of the engines, the sight of cars blazing around at speeds unthinkable on city streets, and, as of this summer, getting to backseat-drive.

NASCAR ( news - web sites), the auto racing circuit that counts 40 million "hardcore" fans nationwide, is trying something new to draw in fans: multichannel pay-per-view with multiple in-car cameras.

NASCAR, which estimates its fans consume an average of nine hours of NASCAR-related media a week, has broadcast deals with four different networks.

Since mid-June NASCAR and pay-per-view company iNDemand have offered a package of seven channels for each race in the stock-car series. Fans pay $99 for a full season of 22 races.

I have a thought about this.....
NOT ONE RED CENT from my pocket!

I remember a couple of years back when ESPN carried a NASCAR race and ESPN2 carried the exact same race with no announcers and ALL in-car cameras. It was cool, but not worth an additional nickel. If NASCAR goes PPV it will be without me. I'll put them in the same category as my pro Baseball purchases...No Más.

See ya
Tony

I saw it during the free preview and it was pretty darn good except for one thing.... If it didn't have commercials it might be worth buying.... I like the race itself being on one of the digital channels..... If there was no commercials, I might consider buying it but why pay for something that is free.....

NASCAR? Bah! Go with CART, IRL, or F1...I'm talkin' open wheel racing!

Restrictor plates? We don't need no steenkin' restrictor plates!

I thought I would pass the info along to the others, but I'm an open wheel racing fan myself. :righton:
I'm going to the Marcona race in Cleveland. :righton:

I'm envious John :). Let's hope someone will challenge Da Matta for once! Those Brazillians are incredible drivers.

You got that right about the Brazillians, DaMatta has been truly amazing. It amazes me it isn't as popular here in the states. I guess everyone likes those southern 'good ole boys'?
I usually try to get down to Mid Ohio for a race as well, I love it there!!

I work at Firestone, they usually hand out quit a few tickets for Marcona, but unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to get any this year, I'll have to pay.

Firestone supplies a driver with roughly 400 tires per week for a race, if you ever wonder how many tires they go through. We supplied 8,000 tires to Indy alone.
