I have an H20 and do not have the $400.00 to upgrade to the HDDVR,
so what are my options for recording? I really dont care about FF and RWing
live TV, I just want to record shows when I am not around or watching another.
VCR is out of the question :) The DTV CSR said to get the $99.00 tivo then get
a switcher and use the H20 to watch HI-DEF TV, then swith over to the TV to record in non-def. It was all very confusing and sounds like a hassle.

I just want to record a show while watching another, PLEASE TELL ME HOW??

Thanks for your help
Patrick

A "switcher"?

You could get DTV's current DVR, the R15 (which will be lease) or find a R10 or other DTivo from some retailers or someplace like eBay. For info on the R15 go over the the R15 forum just below this one.

I'm guessing your HDTV is connected to the H20 via component/HDMI or something along that line. You could then connect the DVR to your TV via s-video or composite cables and "switch" with your remote.

To fully utilize a DVR you will need 2 additional coax runs from your dish which will feed the dual tuners on the DVR.

I asked about the ebay thing and they said I would still have to pay 4.99 a month. I guess they treat it like another reciever.

Thanks for the info!!

Maybe just waiting for the HDDVR to drop in price would be the best plan. The way this market works it may be free next year.

It won't be free...$400 is definitely worth it in my eyes, that's why I bought one! :D
