I spoke to Jaime in the Tech dept today. He will replace my aging and whinning dishplayer 7200 with a 501 for $34.95 or I can sign up for the insurance for $5.98 and then "cancel" anytime. I opted to go for the ins and get a replacement 501 for $5.98. I would have liked to go with the newer technology but I am on a budget and I can't justify the extra costs he told me about. I was wavering about a 522/625 and I thought I had the fee structure figured out, he also seemed to contradict himself a couple of time and the longer we talked the more confusing it became. I was under the impression if I had 1 dual tuner dvr as my only receiver I would only pay $5.98 DVR fee plus the additional $5.00 access fee IF I didn't plug into a phone line. So basically I would only incure an additional $.98 per month over my current set up. I don't pay DVR fees for my dishplayers. I was told by the CSR and a supervisor it would be $15.98 for one dual tuner receiver if I didn't have a phone jack and $10.98 if I did. Yes it would 'only' be another $5.98 added to my account because I already pay $5 per month for my 2nd dishplayer, which I would not need with the dual tuner. I thought I read and understood it differently. Does everyone who has a 522/625 pay $10.98 per month for the one receiver plugged into a phone jack?? Do you pay $5.98 tota plugged into a phone jackl? Which is it??? I would appreciate it is someone can tell me once and for all how this works as I have conflicting information. Thank you.

Michelle

So the 501 does not have a monthly DVR fee? Are there any 501's still available for purchase around here?

no, the 501 does not have a fee. I think there was a web site selling them and Apparently Dish still has them as replacements.

Dish-It-Up Upgrade Promotion:
for 522/625 Dual Tuner DVR

all possible fees

$5 Lease fee
$5 Access Fee [if no phone-line connected]
$5.98 DVR Fee [unless on america's everything programming package]

=10.98 If Connected to Phone Line
=15.98 If Not
___
***the $5 Lease fee will replace an additional outlet(a/o) fee if you already have the a/o fee on your account/statement

For example: say you have two receivers now, only fee u currently have is the 5$ a/o fee.

[*assuming the receivers you already have are purchased and not already leased]

replace ONE of them with the 522/625
=5.98 INCREASE per month [if connected to phone line] dvr fee only
=10.98 INCREASE per month [if not] dvr fee and ph line fee

replace BOTH of them w/ the 522/625
=5.98 INCREASE [if connected to phone line] [dvr fee]
=10.98 INCREASE [if not connected to ph line] [dvr fee & ph line fee]

So either way you would end up paying 15.98 in fees if you didn't have the ph line connected. only difference is, in the first case you would have two recievers, 1 old, 1 new dual tuner.

the 5$ lease fee is added on upgrades, even if it ends up being the only rcvr on the account
