Bad day hooking up r-15

Got my r-15 hooked up today,the tech hooked everything up, ran 2nd line,then he turned on the reciver and all the lights was flashing non-stop and making weird noises he just got done praising the r-15 saying it was better then my dtivo and every one likes it better :confused: carma huh???

He went to his shop got anothe reciver then came back an hour later and hooked it up.when he called D* to activate it the lady messed everything up so bad, she got the channels on but didn't activate the dvr service, when she went to activate dvr service she cancelled everything (just my luck:mad: ) so when the tech started to yell at her she hung-up. had to recall and start over.

Everthing works so far now :D

I was afraid she turned off my Dtivo but didn't now I get to play with my new toy:D :lol: .

That's normal and why you should never hangup the phone untill you check that all your recievers and DVR functions work.

I meant that's why I never hangup up the phone untill I'm sure, because they usally mess it up, so I'm not suprised that she didn't know what she was doing. I know you had no choice, sounds like you had one of the installers that doesn't care about this job and is just doing to make $.

He wanted to leave so he could go golfing he didn't even finish the activation he left and I had to finish with the csr. :nono2:

What is up with most of these installers? They don't want to do the job right but have the time to do the job again? I understand they probably get payed a lump sum for the job but come on it's there job.

i pre drilled the holes in my wall thru 3 layers of concrete and brick and still the installer was saying he had to hurry .

That's sad. They must get payed per job and not an hour rate. If they were on a hourly rate they might care a little more.

Per the last installer that was at my place they are paid a flat rate per job and do not get paid if they have to return to fix anything.

So I can understand them wanting to do it fast (time is monry), but why wouldn't they want to do it right? Maybe not alot of people call D* to complain or ask them to send the installer back?

I had to have the installer come back 3 times to fix a problem plagued install and they never did get it fixed completly.

Finally just redid it all myself and have not had another problem. Guess I should have done this in the first place for it would have saved me alot of headache and missed time from work.
