If you force a firmware update with 02468, is it safe to punch the reset button while its downloading the firmware, if its downloading the same version you currently have?
Basically im wondering if during the download process, is it downloading the firmware to a temp file on the HD, then flashing the firmware on next boot. which makes me think it would probably be safe, or is it dumping the firmware into the DVR's flash memory as its downloading, which would most likely result in a dead DVR if you were to reset it mid download.
I've been doing the 02468 atleast once a day waiting for the new firmware, and its a little annoying to wait for it to redownload the same old version. If i could do 02468, then when it starts to download i see that its still 10AF and hit reset to just cancel and go back to TV viewing, that would be nice.
I don't know if directv can update the part of the firmware that does the update, as that might be in ROM, so that a corrupt firmware download can be recoverd from. But if they can update it, it would be nice if they could put logic in there to just skip the update if its the same version, or prompt to skip or download anyways.
