How many dma's or channels can be broadcasted from each spotbeam satellite? I am wondering because I am curious if there is a chance that my state will get any locals up. It is Charleston/Huntington WV which is like DMA 62 or somewhere in there.

Jacob- I'm in same location and curious about locals. I saw on Dishnetwork's technical chat either last time or time before that after the merger, we were in the next group of cities to be added. (However, I'm quite a rookie so this may have nothing to do with your question.)

Do you get the locals for WV in southern Ohio? Was you meaning Ohio locals or WV locals? I figured a spotbeam would be able to do more locals than just half a dozen cities like they have put up so far. Is there a website I can go to about this? How many locals is DirecTv doing additional since they added their spotbeam satellite? They can do it all from one satellite slot yet Dish has to have all of these extra slots to do the same thing?

I will need locals from WV, I live right on border of OH, WV next to Huntington. They are not up yet on either E* or D* as far as I know.

Don't know the answers to any other questions that you asked.

I hope they dont make it to where we wont be able to get the channels in another DMA being on the border of one. Are you in the WV locals DMA?

I'm in Huntington DMA and it looks like I will be moving " 'cross the river" into Huntington in a few months. Right now I have Terk '35 antenna for locals. Its more hype than performance but after MUCH tweaking, it works for me. Mostly because I could point directly East at the transmitting antennas.

Go look at:

http://www.stratuswave.com/~brian27/dbsbeam.html

It is a great page that has maps of all the spot beams that are going in and are in use. You can find out how many total transponders cover your area. Each transponder in a spot can carry 10-12 stations. So, if you see a spot or spots (from e7 and e8 on some areas) you can count the number of transponders and then you can see how many channels in your area they can use.
