Verizon has made a presentation to the local governing body about extending FIOS into our small town. Anyone have any experience with this? How many channels, any HD? How does it compare to the either D* or E*?
No decision has been made on whether to let them in, or when it would start, just looking for some information.
Thanks,
Dennis

And of course the cost, as it compares to the current providers..
Thx.

One interesting aspect of this is that Cable and Fios could get into a localized price war. They could end up significantly cheaper then satellite (which doesn't currently set prices on at a local level).
Cable has never had to deal with competition at this direct level. Hmmm....
In Keller, TX they offer a great deal. You can get 180+ channels, including Showtime, Movie Channel, Starz and Encore (everything except HBO/Cinemax) for less than $60 per month. This includes 13 national and 8 local HD channels. The other cable companies are having to lower prices in order to compete. Keller now has three companies offering cable TV. I have heard that the picture quality is very good on all channels, about equal to the PPV channels on D* or E*. I wish I lived in Keller, the only cable in my area is Charter which is overpriced with bad service.
