The channel chart is updated but no detail on the moves listed due to lack of sleep! I have to work in a couple of hours!

Your turn to correct all my errors Darkman. :) Email them to me or PM me with anything you find. :)

Tony,

Many Sirius music (SIRI) entries on chart are screwed up kinda.. (they are NOT even to compare with other ones)

Also, the vertical line separating "Basic PKGs" and "Other PKGs" columns .. is missing in some channel range(s) .. example: between channels 6383 - 6423 .. (horizontal lines in the same channel range are missing as well, that separate each channel's line there in "Basic PKGs" and "Other PKGs" ...
Same is happening in other places of the chart.. just scroll from top to bottom .. and pay attention where "Basic PKGs" and "Other PKGs" are.. and you ll see... - 7181-7182, 7185-7186 (maybe that's it.. but check more carefully maybe .. in case i missed any)

Also,

New Braunfels Uplink Center Test NB1 6508 12 110° (TID Assignment)
New Braunfels Uplink Center Test NB1 6511 12 110° (TID Assignment)

I believe those 2 are NOT uplinked neither .. - pretty sure they were removed previously as well .. so i guess can be removed from your chart also...

Someone correct me if i am wrong....

Why move Birmingham from a spot to a spot?

Why move Birmingham from a spot to a spot?

They moved it from 119 to 110. Maybe the new spot has better coverage of the Birmingham market. Maybe other plans for the 119 spot.

Especially being that the 110 spots are smaller in diameter than then 119 spots, at least from looking at the available Contour maps that James and others have provided.

That might be the real reason for the move... Move some locals to a more localized spotbeam and then make use of the larger spotbeam in another way to provide something for adjacent DMAs or something?

Yeah... If they're pulling locals of spots on 119 and E8 to put into tighter spots on E10, the've got the ability to put programming on wider spots. What would naturally go there? Fox Sports West? That's pretty much regional and covers more than just one DMA?

Would HD fill up those now and soon to be vacant spotsbeams?

There is no bandwidth advantage to putting Regional Sports Networks on Spotbeams. The RSNs are also used in the OOM Sports packages which require a National Footprint. Also, in Multisports Pak as well.

Here was what I was thinking, take (for example) Binghamton, NY. Now from looking at what is uplinked in the EKB on S04 and S09 on E10, it appears as if it is pretty loaded up, once all the moves are made. Now E7s13 covers Binghamton without issue but E10s04 and E10s09 are more fringe, so by moving locals off of 119 to 110 that are covered well on the 110, it free's up some room for additional markets that need to be on spots...

There is no bandwidth advantage to putting Regional Sports Networks on Spotbeams. The RSNs are also used in the OOM Sports packages which require a National Footprint. Also, in Multisports Pak as well.

RSN HD sports feeds could work though. It would be a great use of the wider footprint to carry regionals in HD in addition to the SD for OOM.

Go Menu' System Setup; Local Channels - Select 'Sat Locals' Highlight which you want 'HD Priority' ,'SD Priority' or 'Disable' - Done. Take your pick. HD is 63xx-64xx range, sd locals would be where they are now. You can map down which you like or have none.

Why is spot 23 reaching Pima County in southern Arizona at a steady 50%? There are no contours of any of the three "nearby" spot 23s (Salt Lake City, Santa Barbara, San Antonio) that should reach here.

I have the dishlatino max package. In the last 3 weeks some of my spanish channels for example cnn noticias have gone through 3 transponder changes on echostar 8. From 19 to 3 and now today is on 15. Anyone know the reason for all these changes? Just curious.

They seem to be dealing with a lower power transponder 3 and now your channel is on the more powerful Tp 15. Looks like the PI channels are getting the Tp 3 treatment now.

Darkman
05-11-06, 06:50 AM
Tony's changes say: "Uplink tests activated for 118.75 (or 119k)"

If / when there is a programming on this 118.75 / 119 k (or whatever it is) - another dish would be required for it .. or cuz there is already 119 location currently, somehow one can combine those 2 from the same plate? (i am aware of the fact that existing 119 location uses Circular LNB (same as 110, 61.5, 148, 129) .. but this "118.75 / 119 k (or whatever it is)" - FSS / Linear LNB would be needed) ...

But nowadays, don't they have on the markets some LNBs that can handle both .. circular and linear? ..
Or cuz it's 119 vs 118.75 (somewhat different locations.. even though close together) - 2 separate LNBs or dishes would be needed for those 2?

What is the story? - someone experienced in this info - please let me / us know :)

In Russian forum, it's reported that there is a Inter Plus's (Russian/Ukrainian channel) Free Preview going on now on channel 599 (Free Preview channel ... Not sure if it is available for all Customers .. or for Select Customers ONLY (as it says on Tony's chart))

ch 599 is located at 61.5 and 148 locations...

Inter Plus is a pretty good Russian/Ukranian channel.. mostly Russian spoken..

Tony's chart says about 599:

"Free Preview Channel (of 121° content) FPCHN
ch 599 Select Customers ONLY
tp 12 61.5°
tp 25 148°"

...
Tony.. i think this "of 121° content" mention should be removed from chart.. cuz regular Inter Plus channel is located at ch 579 .. but NOT even at 121 location.. - just at 148 and 61.5 locations.. :)

The only 2 things that will probably go there (since Int'l stations are going to the wings and 121) is either new locals (to get 100% DMA coverage, and since the majority of DMAs that are left are less than 10% of the viewing audience, it is a very small number of subs that they will be forced to upgrade) or HD stations. With E* recent trend of launching -DT stations, this could be good but there are more people who would need to upgrade. Maybe we will start seeing some RSN in HD at 118, as there are a lot of these stations and those who want it would probably be willing to take a larger dish to get it (which was the main issue with 105/121 Superdish, most people who needed it because of locals didn't want it)...

"05/15/2006: Channel Moves

Effective Tuesday, May 16th at 1am, the following channel moves are scheduled.

Channel Satellite Transponder Comments

221 PREVU 110 214 -> 210 Xponder move (from tp 14 at 110... to tp 10 at 110)

537 HERE 110 206 -> 210 Xponder move (from tp 6 at 110... to tp 10 at 110)

538 $1.99 (PPV) 110 210 -> 206 Xponder move (from tp 10 at 110.. to tp 6 at 110)

-------------
But looks like on Tuesday, May 16th at 1am Colorado time (3am Eastern Time) - those Channel Moves never happened....

I am thinking.. maybe they made a boo-boo and ment Wednsday, May 17th at 1am Colorado time (3 am Eastern Time) ... instead of Tuesday, May 16th (as mentioned above) .. maybe they were thinking of 1am as still being Tuesday's night, lol, .. who knows :)

But in any case.... if those moves are happening Wednsday, May 17th at 3 am Eastern time.. - that's ONLY about 30 mins away from now ;) .. and i am NOT even there to check for them currently :-(

And who knows then.. maybe along with those above mentioned moves.. some other moves / uplink activity might happen :D

P.S. .. I see John is up already now :D :D
