TechTV's Leo Laporte to Appear Regularly on ABC's Overnight Show


ABC News announced today that it has expanded its agreement with TechTV, the only 24-hour cable television network dedicated to showcasing the impact technology has on our everyday lives and the world at large. In addition to sharing Web editorial content with ABCNEWS.com, TechTV will now provide technology-related programming content for ABC's "World News Now."

As part of the agreement, Leo Laporte, co-host of TechTV'spopular daily variety show, "The Screen Savers," will appear regularly on "World News Now," which airs weekdays from 2:00-3:30 a.m. on ABC. Laporte will lead technology segments relevant to viewers' interests and in line with the day's news topics. In addition TechTV will provide feature segments on the latest developments in the world of technology, from product reviews to biotech to the latest in digital music.

"Technology impacts our society in every way and our viewers are eager to stay ahead of the latest developments," said Sharon Newman, executive producer of ABC's "World News Now." "TechTV's expertise and dedicated technology coverage will be a great addition to our program."

"TechTV provides the ideal content to help provide 'World News Now' viewers with information on how the latest products, trends and events affect their lives," said Joe Gillespie, COO and executive vice president of TechTV. "TechTV looks forward to expanding our partnership with such a well-known, respected news source."

ABC News and TechTV first partnered in July 2001 to share editorial content for their websites. TechTV currently provides comprehensive technology coverage, including technology news and product reviews, for inclusion on ABCNEWS.com's Science/Technology and MoneyScope sections. Users are also able to easily navigate between ABCNEWS.com and TechTV.com for further information on story topics.

They don't have enough origianl programming for their own channel now they are helping Disney! Must be a way to pay Leo's salary.

I'm fine with this, just aslong as it does not expand to daytime ABC Radio and displace me, or Sean, or Michael

Us poor truth perveyors have very little time and exposure as it is.

BTW 2:00 am is a great time to watch TechTv - ha, ha, ha

Like adding Leo will make me stay up till 2 am.

I won't even watch him now on Tech TV.

Looks like this could be the end of TechTV. I wonder if they'l bring Martin over with his silly director's getup? This irks me, they dump most of the computer related stuff for how movies are made. :shrug: :shrug:

Personally, I'll be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see the special TechTV edition of the "World News Polka". :D More Polka lovers get their news from ABC World News Now than any other source! ;)
