Hello:

I have a dish 322 set up for one of my rooms.
I hooked a non dish dvd reecorder to it. Problem is when I come back at night, nothing is recorderded except a black page. Then I noticed that when I turn the TV on, I get a screen that states "please select to continue".

I leave the TV OFF but I leave the Dish 322 on on my channel to be recorderded. Why do I get the message as stated above.?

Thank you for time and responses.

Technically E* receivers do not shut off, they go into standbye mode which displays the "Please Select to Continue" screen. Factory preset has an 'Inactivity Standby' mode found under Preferences which is set for only a small number of hours (3 or 4) depending on your receiver (sorry I am not that familiar with the 322). You can either disable the Inactivity Standby or set an 'Auto Tune' by selecting the program you wish to record, easiest way is via using the epg.

Thanks for your reply.
I checked everywhere I could and have not found this setting. I might have to call CSR. I may have to explain 5 times before they understand.

Sorry, not familiar with 322. I just check Tech Portal on the Dishnetwork site. I do not see the inactivity screen there. Are you using single or dual user modes?

the 322 dosn't have a Inactivity Standby in the menu. You might want to shut off the nightly update. Goto menu 6-1-6 then select disable. OR set a VCR Timer and that should keep the video on.

VCR Timer works best for this problem. Set a timer for 4:00 AM (assuming that you still have the nightly updates set for the default 3:00 AM). That should clear up the problem for you
