508 - scrolling scrolling scrolling

I just did the $199 upgrade to a 508 from an old 3000 today - FWIW the 508 came in a sealed carton that had Model 501 all over it :)

Anyway -- when I go into the menu system, or try to set up a custom channel list after holding the up/down buttons down on the remote - the menu scrolls without stopping all by itself.

I thought maybe a button was stuck on the remote - but no 'red' lights are on while this occurs (I even popped the batteries out for a second - still get scrolling menus).

The only way to get it to stop is by hitting a button on the 508 itself.

Has anyone else seen such a problem?.. and if so - what did you do about it?

I had a similar situation on my 501 back when the search feature was added.... I charged the batteries (I use NiMH rechargables) and all was well again

The wild scrolling glitch is thought by some to be a SW bug & thought by others to be a RF problem.

You could try moving the UHF wand antenna away from the TV (which can radiate RF) by attaching a lead of coax RG6 or RG59.

It can't hurt & may also improve the distance from which you can use the remote.

I had that problem until I switched the regular UHF antenna with my "off air" antenna(you can buy then almost anywhere for $10-20). Now it works great and the distance has improved a lot.
