So I did a Dishmover / New Receiver install this weekend. As I expected - what a nightmare!

I have 2 legacy receivers, a 501, and a new 625.

The installer put up two dish pro duals, a 34 switch, and 2 legacy adaptors. Everything but the 625 worked fine. He spent 3 hours trying to get the 625 working with a single feed and a spliter (after I told him it would not work before he started).

Anyway - I have to get them to come back out since he could not make it work.

I believe what I need are either:

1. A Dish Pro Quad (use one of the outputs to go to the fourth rcvr)

or

2. A cascaded 34 switch

Am I correct here????

I have 2 legacy receivers, a 501, and a new 625.OK, tuner count = 5The installer put up two dish pro duals, a 34 switch, and 2 legacy adaptors. Everything but the 625 worked fine. You need either a DP Quad or another DP34 switch to get 5-7 tuners. I can't say that I've seen anyone use a pair of Singles or Duals where a Twin could be used.

I think a DP34 is probably cheaper than a Quad. Neither are currently in favor as they don't support a single cable to dual tuner receivers. I wonder if one could make a single DPP44 work in this situation. Maybe you could even use a SW21 off of the duals to make up the last tuner.

Rather than trying things out on us, it is easier to tell us what satellite slots you need and see if we can come up with a solution. There's also a treasure trove of information about this kind of issue at http://ekb.dbstalk.com/swconfig.htm.

Sounds like a "what I have on my truck" install. A DPP44 would be better ... the two legacy tuners can be fed direct from the DPP44 as well as the 501 and 625 (with separator at the 625). The 625 would get both tuners working that way.

You could use two duals or a twin to feed the DPP44 (or DP34). You're not going to get five tuners out of a DP34 - so now we're in the realm of a 2nd DP34 or replacing the DP34 + adapter mess with a simple DPP44.

The 625 will work with a separator(not a splitter) on a single cable but only when you are using a Dish Pro Plus 44 or a DPP Twin. For any other case you need 2 cables from the DISH to the 625. What you really needed was an installer that knew how to do his job.
