Hi --

I'm looking into getting a widescreen tv and a Dish 6000 receiver. I was at the store last night, and they were showing Discovery HD on the monitors. I noticed that when the Discovery HD logo would come up in the lower right hand corner, only about half of the logo would show up on screen (it made it look like you were watching Discov H instead of Discovery HD) by ALL of the TV's. I checked to see if the TV's were in WIDE mode, and they were. Does anyone know why this was occuring. I don't want to invest in all of this equipment and then find out its cutting off portions of the screen.

Thanks!

JT

Most network logos are placed in a position on screen assuming that the television is set to about 5% overscan all the way around. There are a few networks, however, that place their logos at closer to 2% overscan - Fox Digital is one, and now it sounds like D-HD is another. Result is if the televisions are set to overscan 5%, the logo gets chopped off. There's nothing wrong with the televisions, or with the D-HD feed. If overscan becomes a big deal to you, when you get your television, you can go into its service menu and adjust the overscan to whatever you want it to be.

My set has been ISF calibrated and the logo is off the screen as well. It's been like that since they went on the air. Others have reported the same thing, so I dont really think its a big problem. :D

The sets are overscanning, my computer monitor shows the entire logo with room to spare but my TV has half the logo missing.

I did a major overscan adjust on my TV when I went HD and I can see now that the Discovery HD logo is right up against the right margin TO THE PIXEL. So dont bother to try and get it all in, they are out of line :)
