I'm thinking of getting dish but will probably need it mounted on my roof. Has anyone had problems with this type of mount- leaks, etc?

I have two on the roof... One has been up for over 4 years, the other about 3... Granted they are on the roof over my garage just in case of leaks nothing significant would be damaged but the roof... but no leaking thus far.

I had a good installer, though, so your mileage may vary... but if done properly and sealed at the time of install there shouldn't be any problems.

Has anyone had problems with this type of mount- leaks, etc? If you live in snow country, it is not wise to place the dish where you can't brush it out when it fills with snow. If you don't mind the climb, normally in the middle of a blizzard, then it's not a problem. 2 years ago we had a 4-day, 40-inch snow storm. My neighbors who had dishes on the roof had NO TV for those 4 days. My dish is on the wall 10' up and I had to go out from time to time and brush it out with a broom, so no loss of service.

I could not convince these neighbors that their dish was full of snow, and not that they were suffering from "snow fade."

I have to have my dish moved because of tree growth. This is exactly the reason I'm opting for a pole mount in the side yard over a roof mount.

I have had mega inches of snow pile up on the LNBs, arms, dish itself ... eventually the signal just goes bye bye. In the yard I can get to it, on the roof, nope.

I was forced to put mine on the roof because of an overstepping Home Owner Nazi Association. Been up there a year, no leaks. Just had second one put up there. I think the brackets have a tar patch on the bottom to make them installer proof. At least I hope so because my guy didn't have a caulk gun with him.
