View Full Version : Stuck in Check Switch

I had dish come out and install my 622 upgrade (and replace the dish and new DishPro lnbs etc. Only thing not changed out was the cabling into my house)... Lots of rebooting led me to ask Dish for a swap out of the 622.

After getting a replacement 622 I am having some of the same issues the first one had: Spontaneous reboots, lots of lost signal errors, and then getting stuck in Check Switch mode. It appears that every time I perform the Check Switch I get a different result: Sometimes it finds 110, 119, 129 on one but not the other feed, sometimes none on one but two birds show up on the other, sometimes none on either... Usually a mix of found birds and errors. Sometimes I luck out and get all three birds on both feeds, but after a few hours it blanks out again.

Can this be caused by the ground connection not being effective? Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Dish is sending a tech back out but not for another ten days...

It very simply could be the AC ground problem, or any one of the Dish to receiver connection problems, or a faulty 622. If you watch mostly OTA and the OTA has poor signal with loss, this will cause lots of resets, but surprisingly, poor connections make matters worse. If there is any problem in the dish seeing the satellite, this will cause the problem. A clear line of sight is essential. Some 622's are just faulty which in your case is unusual as it is a replacement unit.

Whats the signal strength of your reception on Transponder 12? A high signal on Transponder 1 doesn't do much good, I had all sorts of issues with my 211, until I worked out the signal problems. I was pegged way over 110 strength on Trans 1 and sat119, when I changed the transponder to 12, like Tech support said to and readjusted my dish1000, Everything has been working fine for months now. If you are going to wait on the tech, have him show you the strength of signal on transponder 11,12,13 before he gets started, don't worry about transponder1. Also have him take out any DPP44's(or any other of the wierd combo's I keep reading about people doing) out of the loop, use a DPP seperator for testing.

I just had good 2nd install, the first did not go well as I did not pass the check switch. Got another receiver and it turns out that the dish was not adjusted correctly to the sat...did you have that check, may not be the issue but another guy with a different meter got me going

Well, it looks like lost connections is the cause for my problems. System Info Details shows anywhere from a couple of dozen to over a hundred lost connections a day.

Since this looks like it's isolated on Sat 110 the CSR thinks it's a bad LNB. They are shipping one today.

Here's a new question: How can I tell which LNB is the one for 110 in a DISH 1000 set up?

Since the signals are reflected in the dish, like a mirror, the eastern satellite (110) will be the western LNB, right at viewed from behind. Most arms are marked 110 and 119.
