TV Guide recently came out with its list of the “Top 50 Worst Shows” in television history. Two of the top 10 programs were based in the world of sports, one way or another: the XFL and Celebrity Boxing.

To be fair, the XFL had some innovations in sports coverage (especially with microphones and cameras on the field) that the “respectable” leagues quickly pilfered. And “Celebrity Boxing” might not make anyone forget M*A*S*H, but no one can deny the entertainment value in seeing Star Trek’s Wil Wheaton beat up the little brother from “Who’s The Boss?”

That’s not to say television hasn’t been littered with simply awful shows involving sports over the years. There may not be enough for a Top 50, but there were just the right amount of big embarrassments on the small screen for a solid Top 10:

I must be in the minority because I like Talk2 and Schwartz. Seeing Romey get a rise out of Everret still makes me laugh. I just watched a program on the NFL channel and seen Everett say how important public image was important to the pro athlete. I guess he forgot that when he jumped over the table. Just my .02

I disagree with some of the stuff that they mentioned. While Arliss is not the best show out there, there are definately worse shows that you could watch. Also it just sort of seems that they do not like Vince Mcmahon or wrestling. Because they certainely bagged on him in that article.

Not to change topics, but does anybody remember the show 1st and 10. It was about a pro football team out in California (I think the California Bears). It starred none other then OJ Simpson. It was pretty entertaining. I wish HBO would do something like this again. I would watch.
