Well, I have been having more problems with this incomplete, useless OS and have decided it is time to dump it and get either XP Home/Pro/ or Media Center. Are there any disadvantages to getting one over the other for a general use computer (used for business applications and home applications). Is there a way to replace the OS without deleting everything on the hard drive and have everything work with the new OS? I'd like to purchase the "upgrade" today.

You can't downgrade or crossgrade without a clean install. MediaCenter 2005 can't join a domain unless you do it on initial install, and if you use an Extender it needs Fast User Switching which isn't domain compatible (without a hack or two see www.thegreenbutton.com). It's very happy on a workgroup and I have no problems with it on my desktop. Think of MCE as Pro with a few add-ons.
My x64 PC still runs fine. Maybe I'm just lucky.

The latest is that I was printing a 64 page document on two sides of paper. I printed all the odd pages, flipped the pile of paper over and reinstalled in printer, told the printer to print the even sides and now it won't find the printer. HP has been totally useless, as I expected. I have deleted and reinstalled the printer (several times) and it still won't print to it. It's crap that is not ready for the market (at least for an average user).
